The City of Ljubljana independently manages local matters of public importance. In cooperation with different stakeholders and a broad participatory process, we define local policies to continuously improve the quality of life in the city. The commitment to the sustainable development of Ljubljana was made in 2007; we firmly believe that this is the only way to ensure that we, and more importantly, our younger generations, enjoy a high-quality urban life in a green, well-preserved, safe and supportive environment with well-preserved nature, clean air, water and other relevant aspects. In 2016, Ljubljana earned the prestigious title of European Green Capital, which gives us great pride. This was just the start of our success story, which has brought us numerous international awards and put our beautiful city on the global map of leaders in the field of sustainability and circular development.
